MR. SYKES GAINS A SEAT. The contest for the three seats on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, for which there wore five candidates, resulted in Mr. F. C, J. Bellringer and Mrs. Dockrill (retiring members) and Mr. A. E. Sykes being returned by very substantial majorities. The latter replaces Mr. G. t\. Browne. Retails Were as follows:

Of 33.500 voters on the roll a little over 18,500 went to the poll. Ul the suburban Mayors were elected ■nopposed as follows: —Pctone, J. W. M'Ewan (re-elected); Huit, H. Baldwin (re-elected); Onslow, C. C. Crump (re-elocted): Eastbourne, J. P; Kelly: Miramar, F. Townsend (re-elected); Karori, B. G. H. Burn. Tho Harbour Board election resulted ;—Payers of dues other than on ■hips, R. E. Sinclair defeated A. D. Kennedy by 168 votes .to 27; C. TV. Jones and H. L. Nathan were returned unopposed for payers of dues on ships. The latest reports give Saturday half-holiday a considerable lead over the other days. The returns were still too indefinite at midnight to give so idea of the results.
