EDUCATION BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Taranaki Education Board on Wednesday the following additional business was transacted; Mr. Halcombe reported that in accordance with instructions he had arranged- with Mr. Spurr to have the gorso cleared ut tho Mimi school grounds.—Tho report was received. A meeting of householders will be called to be held-in tho Pituno School for tho purpose of electing a committee and arranging the boundaries of the school district, and Mr. Adlattt will bo tho board’s representative. The report hy the inspectors recommending the erection of a new school at Radnor Road was,'after considerable discussion, received, and the matter was left in the hands of Messrs. Marfell, Masters, and Maekay for further information. In accordance with the chairman's report, it was resolved that tho term of occupation of tho unused part of tho Kaimata school grounds be extended to throe years on the condition that the land is properly farmed. Mr. Frank Area will bo informed that the agreement entered into with regard to clearing tho Korn school grounds had not been carried out, anti that lie be recpiested to comply with tho agreement.

It was resolved that Mr. F, .7. Hopkins* letter of the. 2-lth instant ho acknowledged, and that the board regrets that under the circumstances ho was put to such inconvenience. The-question of Mr. A. B. Friday's application for a now lease of section 3, block 5. Ngaere S.D.. was referred to Mr. Marroll to report on. The overseer’s letter explaining the plans he had prepared for the additions to the Technical College was received. Application will he made to the department for a grant- for the extension. The Acting-Director of Education Wrote forwarding a copy of a communication received from the central executive of the League of the Empire notifying the date of the next annual meeting of the Imperial Union of Teachers, which will take place on duly 17. The board was asked to nominate n teacher who was being granted extended leave at the time. The Tataraimaka School Committee was granted permission to dispense with the school holidays, the question of keeping the school open during the alterations being referred to Mr. Adlam, with ■»'owcr to act. The overseer was authorised to carry tmt the work at the Tataraimaka School as outlined in bis report. It was decided that the name of the Mohakou school be. changed to Kiore. Mr. A. Gray. Director of •Technical Education, applied for an increase of salap'.—The matter was referred to the Finance Committee.
