The unfortunate lady had her leg broken, one of her feet practically torn oil', and other injuries to which she succumbed. The wheels of the vehicle passed over the body of her husband twice and in addition ho was kicked in the back. I am glad to hear, however, that he is progressing favourably.” Mr. G. ’Wilson learned of the accident by telegram from Christchurch, where his parents were residing. Mr. .J. C. Davidson has received from his brother an interesting relic of the Emden, which is well worth keeping. It is a metal canteen disc; on' one side is "Kantecn S.M.S. Kmdcn,” and on the reverse "200.” The Imavy rain of yesterday is appreciated by the farmers, hut it is regarded with apprehension by engaged in arranging the carnival fixed for the end of the week. The report on St. John's Hall, read at tlie annual meeting of parishioners, shows a credit balance of C’-’J. In reply in a rjucstion the vicar staled that the liability on the hall was now £17.5. When ho came, to the parish it was •C'375. but by careful management it liad new been reduced to the figure lie named. Had it mu been for .the fact that a loan of £do had had to ho obtained to put the budding in repair, the liability would have been only £l2-5.
