TECHNICAL COLLEGE.

MEETING OF ADVISORY BOARD. The roonthlv nieciing of the Advisory Board of the New Plymouth Technical College was held on Tuesday night. There were present; Messrs, Hal Goodacre. J. Baton. H. Trimble, G. H. Dolbyl, AVm. G. Reid (secretary), and A. Gray (director). In the absence of Air. F. H. Jackson, who. arrived before tlje mooting closed, Mr. Dolby was voted to the chair. An, apology for absence was received from Mr. S. G. Smith. DIRECTOR’S REPORT. Air. Gray presented the following report : "The day classes at the College continue to progress satisfactorily, while the evening classes, though small, are doing good work. In ,connection with the engineering class I have to thank Mr. Milne for a gift of fine accnihulators and the loan of a transformer. Also in connection with the motor-car class on .Monday evenings, I have to thank Mr. AValdie, of the Criterion Garage, for the loan of a four-cylinder motor-car engine.' For theoretical work the. engineering class-lias been conducted in tbe MTiitoley Hall.” A C RICU LXUR A L INSTR UCTION. The agricultural instructor (Air. H. G. Sorgell) reported as follows: "Wo have continued the preliminary work at the section, sowed'seed for a green crop on a portion, and expect, to begin on the other half soon. All this preliminary work I consider to be. of much value to the bovs. because it follows out tbe principle, which I hope will always-bo connected with our students, that the apparent drudgery of practice is a vital part in their education, 'Hie entrance to our section is a very awkward one, and I .should like to see something done in. this connection before next spring. There is a large telegraph pole right in.the,middle of the narrow pathway.
