ANNUAL MEETING

The annual mooting: of St. Marys branch of the Church of England -Men's Society was iioid in the Vicarage on Tncsclav conning. r Llie president, the Rev. A. H. Colvile, presided over a good attendance. ANNUAL REPORT. In presenting the annual report, the committee had to state that on April 1, 101 -J. there were 31 members of the branch, seven members haying boon admitted to membership, whilst four have been transferred bore from other branches. The branch, therefore, began the year with -12 members, of whom ltd were living in the parish; of the remainder, two had answered the call ot their conntrv, Messrs. B. E. C. Dowling and T. R. Hancock, and are now with the expeditionary force, whilst cite rest are scattered throughout the North Island. Seven general meetings and one special meeting had been held during the year, these meetings being preceded by a devotional and prayer meeting in the church. Throe Corporate Communions were held during the year. In September the branch was visited by the organising secretary, the Rev. ,)'. D, Russell, but while bis visit was too short to have any real effect on the branch, his address would long be remembered by those who heard it. The branch had' been unfortunate chat it had not less than throe secretaries during the past vear. -Mr. Butler, who was elected at the annual meeting, had to resign when ho went to live in the country. fn his place -Mr. Dowling was elected, but had to resign in August when he joined the expeditionary force. In his place Mr. H. C. Baker was elected. During the year a targe percentage of the lav-reading, Sunday School teaching. and'the bell-ringing had been done hv different members ol the branch. In February last a special committee, with the Archdeacon as chairman, was formed to manage a C.E.M.S. recreation tent at the local territorial camp. A separate report from this committee would he presented (this has been already published in the Herald). In accordance with the rules of the branch the whole committee would resign, and the meeting would he asked to elect n new olio, consisting of two vice-presidents, secretary. treasurer, and a committee of three, also an lion, auditor. On the motion of Messrs. C. S. List ami T. V. Maekoy. the report ’ was adopted, as was also the balance-sheet, which showed a small credit balance.

ELECTION .OF OFFICERS. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows Vice-presidents,-Messrs. H. E, Fookos and E. B. Kingdon (re-elect-ed); secretary. Air. J. G. List; treasurer. Mr. E. B. Kingdon (re-elected): committee, Messrs. C. S. List. G. Moverley and H. C. Baker; auditor, Air. J. Baton (rc-clcctod). GENERAL. It was decided to hold the next meeting on the third Tuesday in Alay. A men's service will bo held on Alay 23. Whit Sunday. Air. H. C. Baker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his past services. The Rev. John AVilkinsott and Afr. A. Selwood were, appointed delegates to the Auckland Diocesan Conference of the C.E.AI.S.
