THE COMMISSION OF. INQUIRY. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON. April 27.. The Education Boundaries Commission, sol up to inquire and recommend .the constitution or the new education districts, mot hero to-day. The personnel is: Messrs. A. D. Thomson, Assistant Public Service Commissioner (chairman), CU.M. Thomson. G .Hogbon, J. Strauchan, and D. Petrie. The meeting was held in camera, and the Minister for Education conferred with the mom hors. It was decided to begin taking evidence in the South ’ Island, and the Commission will leave to-morrow evening for Invercargill. Evidence will he taken there on Friday, and at Dunedin on Monday. These arc the only dates definitely fixed, but the Commission will go on from Dunedin to Timaru, then to Christchurch, nml afterwards to Westland and Wellington. It was decided that the press bo admitted to the sittings, at which evidence is to bo taken. It was also decided that the evidence taken by the Education Commission in 1012. and hy the* Parliamentary Education Committee last year relative to boundaries, should be taken as evidence for purposes of the present Commission.
SOUTH CANTERBURY RESOLUTIONS. , TIMARU. April 27. The householders’ mootings on Monday at most places passed resolutions protesting against abolition of the South Canterbury education district. \V inmate suggested enlarging the district by adding Ashburton County.
