' The following telegrimi .lias Feen .received by the Secretary of the General Post Office from the postmistress at Te Araroa:—“A tornado: and lightning struck the post office during a gal© at 10.45 a.m. It did considerable to the chimney bn the western side and snapped off the top half, which was blown on the roof.. Two windows wore smashed and thb hack door, and the roof on the eastern side was considerably sprung. The office itself is several indies out of plumb. All maps and posters were blown clean out. Tho outbr fence of tho enclosure was destroyed and canned across the road. On the western end the material shed was blown in and a window broken. AU telephone wires were blown down, one only remaining.”
