THE GERMAN FLEET,. ALLEGED TO BE IN. THE NORTH SEA. TIMES AND SYDNEY SUN EEEVICES. LONDON, April 27. The Berlin press affirms that the German fleet is cruising in the North Sea, hut it has hot been sighted by British warships. The newspaper Scotsman states that the Germans have not tost sight of Heligoland day or night, hut have kept in the shelter of their mine-fields in a condition of activity bespeaking their consciousness of pqweriessness _t° Strike. Fear of aggressive action on the part of the British has caused the withdrawal of practically every German submarine from the blockade duty, so as to protect the.fleet and harbours. The skipper of a trawler which unexpectedly returned to Grimsby was asked by the owner why he had come back. Ho replied; ‘‘The North Sea is a bit mixed up. On our port side was a mine-field,’ on the starboard quarter was a German submarine, and above hovered a Zeppelin, so 1 •■thought it best to make tracks home.” COPENHAGEN, April 26. ANOTHER GERMAN LEGEND REPORTED RAID ON CANADA (Received April 28, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, April_27. A message from Portland (United States) says that Captain Branch, of the interned Gorman barque Dolbeck, says that a German squadron of fifteen vessels is heading for the coast of Canada intending to destroy the cities and fortifications. His' information was contained in a letter from an officer of the Gorman Navy. Captain Branch believes that the squadron ismaking its way along the coast of Norway and thence to Canada.
