COMMISSIONER IN AUCKLAND. fEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. ' AUCKLAND, April 26. The Japanese .-.Trade- Commissioner, Dr. J. Mima, and Mr. M. Ohtani, were welcomed to Auckland at a, qivic reception at the Town Hall this morning. The Mayor (Mr. C. 'J.-.-Parr). presided, and there was a fair attendance of commercial men and. others. In reply to the speeches of welcome, Dr. Mima said it had been a great pleasure to him to observe-.that he was m the most advanced city in ’New Zealand, and in sight of one of the best harbours of the world.: The Japanese had a proverb which meant that"a lino country made ,a. fine people-, and that a fine people made-a. fine .country..;. The Auckland district was a splendid proof of the truth of this saying. According to the; .experience he had obtained ip his short trip thrpiigh;this country, he believed there was . plenty of room for international trade .between' New Zealand and Japan to develop at « very rapid rat-s.
