T,ho Defence Minister has received a communication from the Secretary of State for the Colonies releasing him from the obligation to observe secrecy regarding the number of troops Now Zealand has sent abroad to light, and the number iu training. The -Minister states that New Zealand has already dispatched fifteen thousand men, not inducting the Samoan forces, some of which have returned to the Dominion. FINANCE AND THE WAR, THE DOMINION PROSPEROUS. WELLINGTON, April 27. Discussing the position of the Dominion in the present Empire crisis, Mr. Massey stated that though all the details for the financial year were not yet available be was in a position to say that, considering all the circumstances, the position of this country was particularly satisfactory, especially of the Consolidated Fund. The fact was that, even with the extra war expenditure, which we scarcely felt yet, the country was wonderfully prosperous. -Money for legitimate purposes was easily obtainable, and the Government hoped before long further to relax the restrictions on the lending departments.
