AN URGENT WORK. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, July 8. A largely attended conference of delegates of- local bodies and chambers of commerce in the Wellington district opened to-day. Its objects are to discuss the Rimutaka deviation and the best means of improving access between Wellington Oity and the country districts by rail and road and the opening up for, closer settlement of east coast lands. A motion was carried to the effect that the Rimutaka deviation was an absolute and urgent necessity.
