Tho final for tho Weston Cup Handicap was played at Wauvakuiho on Tuesday ailcrnoon under perfect wca,ther conditions, and resulted in a win ’for Miss Bowloy (5) by 2 up and 1 after a splendidly contested game. The winner played right at the top of her form, returning the good score of 99 with a 10 at the eighteenth, while Miss Brewster played an equally good game, but found the handicap allowance of five Strokes just a littio too much on the day. Both players played a good long ganio, whilst tho putting was quite a feature. Miss Brewster was three down at the turn, but squared the match at tho fourteenth. The fifteenth was halved. Both made good drives at the sixteenth, Miss Brewster was hole high within ten feet of tho flag, whilst her opponent was just olf the green on tho right. With a Jong approach putt with her iron Mias Bewley lay within four feet of the hole. Miss Brewster tried for a win ia two and ovor-ran, missing tho return putt, whilst Miss Bowley holed in three.; — One up. At the seventeenth Miss Browstef had to give her partner- a stroke and with a poor third was only able to equal her opponent’s strokes, thus losing tho match by 2 and i. This is the second occasion on which Miss Bewloy has won tho cup, whilst Miss Browster has also won rt twice previously. At the same time a flag competition was played for Miss Bowley’s prize, the winner being Miss Blundell, who planted tho flag in the twentieth hole. With ten strokes in hand after playing the eighteenth Miss Blundell with a good 4 and 6 holed at the twentieth. .Mrs. Johns was second, planting hor flag within sight of the twentieth green. Tho conditions are that the cup has to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals.
