AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

THE WINTER SHOW. The general committee of tho Taranaki Agricultural Society met on Tuesday evening, Mr. J. S. Connett presiding. An approximate balance sheet in connection with the recent winter show was presented, showing a profit of £264 Ids iUd, which is £u)s Us lUd above that for the show of 1913, and 11153 17s 4d ahead of the show ot 4912.

Tho following are the principal receipts :—Tickets, 1)314 6s ltd; entries, £U4 19s 3d ; sale of catalogues, A 3 12s Ud; advertisements in catalogue, £l2 Ills; space, £O2 6s ! .d; privileges, £i ss; donations, £59 is del; raiae nugget, £l4B 4s 6d; ralfle quilt, £69 6s; commission side shows, £l4 4s; total, £BSB 12s.

This year raffles brought m £217 lUs 6d, and in 1913, the sale of cake containing coins, which took the place of rattles, brought in only £46 lus sd. Very appreciative reference was made to the work of Mcsclames Smellie, Connett and Hill, and Miss Milroy, who wore mainly responsible for making the quilt which had proved so profitable to the society, and the secretary was Instructed to convey to them the hearty thanks of the society. It is probable that a suggestion made by these ladies that a portion of the revenue be utilised in purchasing a suitable trophy to be awarded as a points prize in the needlework classes will be given elfeet to.

Letters of thanks will also bo forwarded to those gentlemen responsible for the sale ot nugget tickets. It was decided that the special subcommittees immediately revise the schedule for next year’s winter show, so that recommendations can be subm ited to the incoming committee.
