INFANTILE PARALYSIS.

EPIDEMIC IN TARANAKI. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.. CHRISTCHURCH, March 25. At the meeting of the Hospital Board Dr. Fenwick presented a report on infantile paralysis, stating that the disease was in a mild form and there had been two recoveries, the first recorded. Dr. Valintino said 40 cases has occurred in Dunedin, 30 in Christchurch, and reports from Taranaki suggested it was epidemic there. The peculiar fact was that tho disease attacked many adults, bnt a good feature was the recoveries. Dr. Fenwick suggested the probability of another epidemic next autumn. The Hospital Board discussed the rase of a consumptive landed at Lyttelton by tho Maunganui from Australia, Allegation was made of carelessness on tho part of the authorities. The man was now a burden on the taxpayers. Dr. ValintLne said he had authorised the removal of the patient to Cambridge.
