FRANKLEY ROAD.

FROM OCR OWN CORRKSFONDENr. March 2-I.—News is very scarce hero at present, as nearly everybody is busy with their cropping. Mr. Gpson, of tins road, had the misfortune to lose ono of his horses last week. He was ploughing and had nearly finished, when ono of tho horses was seen to stagger and then drop dead. Tho hot fly was the cause of the animal's death, I am told. Tho Frankley-Carringtou Picnic Committee held a meeting on the 17th, and from what I.can gather there is a credit balance of some £3 10s, which is to be set aside for another reunion next year. The first sign that winter is drawing near is that the farmers aro thinking of dances, of which there have been one or two already. Tho next is a euchre party at Frankley School, got up by Miss Hawke’s supporters in aid of her candidature for Carnival Queen. The date is Wednesday, the 25th. The arrangements are in capable hands, so a very enjoyable evening should result if the weather permits.
