By attending at the theatre to-night supporters of Miss Gilbert will assist their lavounte. •‘Queen of the Carnival” has become a familiar phrase in Taranaki and tor the resixjctivo candidates aspiring to be Queen much work has been done. To-morrow evening a treat is in store for music lovers, Mr. Van alecks orchestra, which has obtained a high standard ol excellence, and is recognised as on© or th© leading provincial orchestras, provides a concert on behalf of Miss A. Hawke, the Sports’ Candida 10. A glance at the programme will convince uio most exacting that tho musical items will bo onierwunuig and attractive. Mr, Van Heck has been successful in securing such well-known entertainers as Captain A. O. C. Stevens, of tho Wellington. Savage Club, and Mr. David Ingram, ol Auckland, and tho concert promises to bo the best of tho season. Rro lessor Cards ton’s pupils aro reported to bo getting busy on behalf of their candidate, -Miss Kiiecn M’Guirc. The Swimming Club has announced that it will hold a linaJ carnival on Monday next in aid of -Miss Hawkes candidature. An advertisement appears in tins issue of tho social and dance to bo held in tho Hast End Pavilion on Thursday next. , A reminder is given oi the dance to ho hehl in tho Brougham Street Hall on Friday next in furtherance of Mits Hawke’s candidature. A very successful dance was Riven at Hillsborough on Tuesday in aid of tho "Country Girl’s” candidature, Miss Hilda Bishop. Miss Glory Harrison, tho band s candidate, is reported to bo gaining many votes as tho result of tho energetic efforts of her committee. The Friendly Societies aro working hard in their "determination to put up a good fight on behalf ot their candidate, Mias Elsio Bennett. They aro confident that their candidate will be in a handy position when tho final count takes place. Tho East Knd troupo of funnily dressed individuals again paraded in town on Tuesday night prepared for concert work, and they report good business on behalf of their candidate, Mias Madge Henrichs. Tho Uoyal Pierrots will visit Inglewood on Monday evening next and give a concert in .supjKirt or tho candidature of Miss Yota Gilbert.
