March 23.—A concert was held in the hall on tho 19th instant, and, being the last to be held in the hall prior to extensive alterations, drew the largest gathering seen for a long time. Smith; song, “Come Over the Garden Mall,” Airs. Thornloy; song. “The Horse the Alissis lilies tho Clothes Air. All. Tom Wilson, of Hrixtoit, M'uhara Road, is the contractor for the alterations and addition to tlm present building, which will run approximately to about €2OO, and when finished ought to servo tho requiremeuts ol tho district for many years.

Mr. Henry, agricultural lecturer it tiller the Education Board, gave an address in tho iiail on Mednesday last on “Food and Feeding ” Air. Smith being in tho chair. Air. Henry impressed on his audience tho necessity of providing suitable food in the driest months of summer and autumn and in the winter mouths, ami at the same lime those which tend to make up a well-balanced ration for dairy cows. At the close of his address he was asked and answered a number of questions, and was accorded a vote of thanks. Tho next lecture will ho on Wednesday evening, at the Maitara Hoad Factory.

The party telephone Hue between M’aitara and lluirangi was completed on Saturday last, just being about five weeks since tho application was put in. which speaks well for the department. Air, P.ovett is building a now residence facing the To Arei Road at lluirangi, the contractors making good headway.
