The final round of the chess championship commenced this morning. Tito pairing and openings were;—Davies v. Dodd, Ruy Lopez: Grierson v. Moore, Ruy. Lopez; Miles v. Hicks, centre counter gambit; Myers v. Mason, Ruy Lopez; Severne v. Gyles, three knights game; Stewart v. Kelling. centre counter gambit; Wingfield v. Barnes, king’s bishop opening; James a bye. At the mid-day adjournment the games all appeared perfectly level with one exception. Wingfield has lost a pawn, and all . the others have Cqnal pieces and pawns, reckoning a knight as cqnal to a bishop. The greatest interest lies in the games between Myers y. Mason and Davies y. Dodds. In the former caclt has a rook and five pawns, and the position looks very drawish. In the latter, besides the queen, two rooks and seven pawns each. Davies has two knights, while Dodds has a bishop and a knight. Neithei> side appears to have any advantage.
