COLUMBIA AND PANAMA.
A SETTLEMENT WANTED.' BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT. (Received Jan. 12, 9.20 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 11. Columbia is negotiating a treaty with the United States for settlement of outstanding questions arising out of the separation .of Panama, whereby t}ie United States secure concessions to build the Panama Canal. The Columbian Minister at Washing-, ton declared that financial considerations come second! What Columbia wanted was the same rights to use the' Canal as the United States, also recognition of the Columbian delimitation of the Panama frontier. It is’reported that Columbia demands an indemnity of £5,000,000.
