GOLFERS INJURED.
IN MOTOR-CAR ACCIDENT. rim PRESS ASSOCIATION. WANGANUI, Sept. 15. As a motor-car containing Arthur Duncan, Arthur Gillies. Harold Thomson and Gonville Saunders, well-known golfers, was proceeding to the golf links this morning, the front wheel of the car side-slipped when the driver attempted to clear a dog in the main street. The spokes of the wheel broke, the tyre burst, and the car turned completely over. Duncan, Gillies and Saunders, who were in the back seat, wore thrown clear of the car ; escaping with a few bruises. The driver of the car, a man named Carter, fell heavily on the side of his head inside the car, and was picked up unconscious. Thomson also fell on tho side of his head with the car on top of him’. Both men were carried into adjoining shops and medical aid sought. Tho driver soon recovered consciousness, and Thomson also revived later, but Had strained the muscles of his arm. Apparently neither had any bones broken, though the faces of both were much cut about and their bodies bruised. The car was smashed considerably.
