At the Police Court a number of printing firms were prosecuted under the Registration Act for using a printing press without giving notice and, receiving a certificate as_ required under the Printers and Newspapers Acts. Finos of £5 were inflicted. For the defence it was pointed out that nothing had boon done by the Government in the matter of registration for forty years, and suddenly half a dozen printers woro pounced on and a charge brought on which the minimum penalty is £5.
