TUMBLING IN THE SKY.

SI. Pcgoud, the French aviator., has really introduced tho New Era which everybody is always expecting. His feat in turning a somersault in a monoplane in the-air ought to demonstrate that aviation is now safe, easy, and 1 comfortable. You can go up into tho air, and imitate a tumbler pigeon, without coming to any harm. In a few years, what will the shy look like on some fmo spring morning? Tho decorous clerks will ho winging thoir way to work with a steady, respectable flight, swerving neither to the right nor to tho loft; but the boys on thair way to school will play all lands of tricks. Just as a boy dodges through the streets under horses’ noses amd the wheels of the trams, taking a hop-step-and-jump every now and then, and turning Catherine-wheels if his route takes him across a park or a grassy allotment, so the youngster who is ’planing to school will bo flialiering and whirling and somersaulting all the time. When you sit in the JohnsouJnggernaut, which will, of course, be travelling in tho air, your heart will jump into your mouth at the spectacle of a small boy whirling dizzily downward, with his feet towards the heavens, but just as ho is going to be smashed by tho juggernaut h© will right his little ’plane, and skim away smiling. In quieter parts of tiro air, free from general traffic, nursemaids will push their- ’phone-porambrfators, with the babies securely strapjsed in the seats. Such is the prospect which M.
