Dr. Ramsay Webb,' in Ms presidential address to- the -Medical Association, referred to tho proposed schemo for national insurance. It was not evident, ho said, that there was any widespread demand for tho system, yet tho demand was assumed as a matter of course. The medical profession, which had an intimate knowledge of tho surroundings, and homo life of the working classes, must deny tho existence of any considerable number so destitute as to justify tho adoption of tho echemc.
