CIRCULAR ROAD RACE.

THE CONCLUDING SPORTS’. The motor-cycle races which were to have been run on the racecourse on the afternoon of tho Circular Road Race had to be put off owing to the dangerous nature of the track caused by Thursday’s heavy rain. It was decided to run them to-day and also to hold a 30 MILE ROAD RACE. The decision of the committee was hailed with joy by_ the many visiting cyclists here, who, in the words of one of their number, ‘‘just jumped at the chance of having a final fling.” “I’ll tell .you a little secret,” said another visitor; “I was supposed to have left this morning so as to begin work on Monday, but ” “You couldn’t resist the temptation?” queried one of our reporters. “You’ve guessed it in one,” he answered with a grin; “and I’m going V pedal for all I’m worth and risk what the boss wili say.” THE START. The weather was beautfirflly fine for the start of tho race this afternoon. Owing to. various causes, among them non-recovery after Thursday’s race, many of tnoso who intended to compete were unable to do so, there being a field of 13 for the sweepstake. There was a large crowd present to see tho race begin from the Red House corner. The starters were; D. Kirkham, C. Snell, amj J. Wilson, scr.; Wallace, Bonis, and White, 2mins.; Gupson and Bell, omins.; Cooper, Greener, and Utiger, Smins.; Copeland and M‘Garrigle, lOmins. Thl route wn via Bell Block and Leppertoii to Inglewood and back to tho racecourse, via the Junction Road. RESULTS. Shortly before 3 o’clock three riders entered the racecourse from the Avenue Road entrance, and 220 yards behind them a bunch of six or seven riders. The first three, Cooper, Bell and Guneon, came right on and after a good struggle finished in that order. Cooper (Smins.) 1 Bell (omin.) 2 Guuson (smins.) 3 Don Kirkham and Wilson were next to finish in that, order. The winner’s time was Ihr. 24mins. 41secs. Kirkham scored fastest time, Ihr. 17nrin. 2sece. MOTOR-CYCLE RACE. Five Mile Motor-cycle Race (open).— A. Anderson (Triumph), Sosecs., 1; B. J. Jones (Rudge), 55secs., 2; P. Coleman (Douglas), 70socs., .3. Also started: Boucher (Rudge) .55socs., F. Goldsmith (Royal Ruby) SSsecs., Bert lightband (L.M.C.) 60secs., B. O. Emery (L.M.C.) 60secs., W. R. Hooke (Humber) 65secs., and W. Choug SQsecs. ( Coleman, got away from -the start and led all the way to the last lap, when his engine become over-heated. lighthand and another competitor collided, and the former fell, blit was nofc hurt. Goldsmith also had a spill, but escaped injury. No time was taken.
