SCULLING.
PADDON AND ARNST AT AA’ORK. Traiiudg operations are progressing for the forcncoming match between James Paddon (holder) and Dick Arnst (challenger) for tho Australian Sculling Championship and the Referee Challenge Cup on November 1. Paddon has been doing two rows a day at Evans Hoad. It is not known for certain whoa ho will arrive in Sydney, but I have hoard (writes the sculling scribe in the Referee) that ho will travel down with Mr. Harry Floyd, reaching hero either on Monday next or Monday week. AVbon ho arrives. Charlie Towns will bo ready to row with him—and an excellent paco-maker ho will be.
Arnst, who is located at Abbotsford, considers ho is well forward in condition. On Saturday last ho reported that ho was tho merest fraction over 14st. in weight and was feeling splendid. Alf. Felton has returned from South AA-oodborn, looking hearty and well and ip excellent condition. Ho immediately, on arrival, joined the Arnst camp at Abbotsford, and thus the challenger is now assured of good pacing on the water. Arnst was at tho Gun Club, Botany, on Tuesday afternoon, whore ho won tho Faithful •Trophy from a big field, his shooting being excellent. Ho spent tho weekend at Manly, but is now hard at it again on the Parramatta, doing two rows a day.
