The Commonwealth Office, replying to a correspondent in tho Westminster Gazette, who drew attention to emigrants’ hardships owing to compulsory service, declares that compulsory service is popular with both political parties. The country is united on the question, and compulsion has como to stay. The reply adds that the enrolments are satisfactory and improving.
