IMPORTANT INQUIRY. INTO WAGES AND HOURS. BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT. (Received Sept. 13, 8.30 a.m.) CAPETOWN, Sept. 12. Lord Gladstone has appointed a commission with Professor S. Chapman, of Manchester, as chairman, to inquire into lyagcs, working hours, cost of living and cost of production on tho Witwatorsrand and in other centres, compared with other countries. Tho commission will also inquire into £ne establishment of a minimum wage, the payment of overtime and night work.
