WELLINGTON MEETING. FIRST DAT. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, July 16. The Wellington Racing Chib’s winter meeting opened at Trcntham to-day. The weather was dull, and a slight shower fell duriug tho afternoon, but it did not interfere with racing. There was a very largo attendance, and tho racing was most interesting, tho finishes in many instances being very close. Speculation was very brisk, tho sum of £25.577 10s going through the totalisator, compared with £12,833 for the first day of the previous fixture, an increase of £12,694.
