WALLIS ISLAND.

ANNEXED BY FRANCE. BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT. (Received July 17, 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 17. The steamer Kulambangra brings details of the annexation of Wallis Island by Franco. The island has previously been under the French protectorate. When the Kersaint, a man-of-war, arrived on June 9 the chiefs turned out to participate in tho ceremony. The native militia paraded, and after a very effective march past by the latter, the chiefs formally handed over control to France. A salute of twentyone guns was fired. It is stated that a native Parliament has been elected.
