REFORMING THE NEW YORK BALL.
One of New York’s most prominent society ladies has cancelled hor annual dance this season as a protest against the “wriggly” dances and the laxity that follows them. She has also taken the initiative in forming a Protective League among those who discountenance tho freakish dances. Tho following aro some of tho new rules of the league;— No girl will bo invited to the dances given ny members of the league who dances the freakish dances in spite of her hostess's protest. Who smokes in dining-room during supper. Who wears the non-petticoat gown. Who flirts with her partners in obscure corners. No man will bo invited yvho goes to sleep during a function. Who' throivs ashes and cigarette ends on the floor. Who drinks more than two quarts of champagne. Who dances tho freakish dances. Who refuses, to danco with girls his hostess assigns him. Who attempts to flirt with tho dressing-room maids.
