HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. PEK PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, July I'4. Following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under dato London, July 12 (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot): Mutton. The market is weaker, though not actually lower, except for light weights, whicii may be quoted id per lb. lower. The cause is stated to be due to tho lower prices for heavy weights. Lamb.—Canterbury 43c], North Island 4Jd. The lamb market is very weak, holders unloading even at a loss. There has been a decline of id for ail grades. Canterbury sjd, heavy weights 43d, other than Canterbury 53d. Beef.—The market is firm,- with no change in prices. The market for chilled beef is firmer. Hinds s)d,- fores 3Jd. . J Tlje River Plato shipments received during tho month of June, 1913, were; London, mutton 88,794 carcases, lamb 21,719 carcases; Liverpool, mutton 173,570, lamb 60,235; Cardiff, mutton 4000; Hull, mutton 5000. lamb 489; Southampton, mutton 4500, lamb 2609; Plymouth, mutton 388, lau-J: GOO; Ireland, mutton 2292, lamb 7„J. Totals, mutton 27,854, lamb 86,445. The totals for June, 1912, were: Mutton 234,141, lamb 160,697. Butter.—Tho market is quiet. There is a good demand for butter, but no change in price. The supply of Siberian exceeds tho demand, and considerable quantities have been put iu store. Cheese.—The market is firm and prices continue to advance. Now Zealand stocks are very light. The Ruapehu has arrived and is now discharging. New Zealand white, per cwt., 675, coloured 65s 6(1. Canadian, finest white 65s 6d, coloured 645. Qhcshiro, finest 735; English Cheddar, finest 68s. Hemp.—The market is quiet and small business has been done in 'New Zealand during this week, on account of tho depressed condition of tho Manila market. Now Zealand goodfair, nothing offering here, nominal quotations £2B 10s to £29 c.i.f. New Zealand fair grado ruled steady at about- £25 15s, but is now easier at £24 10s: c.i.f.; spot £25, July to September fair current Manila £29. The output from Manila for the week was 12,000 bales. Wool.—Current Bradford quotations for tops are:: 36’s (low crossbreds), : laid per lb.; 40’s (low crossbreds), 16d per lb.; 44’s (medium crossbreds), 163 d per lb.; 50’s (halfbreds), 20}d per lb.; 56’s (quarterbreds), 23d per lb.; 60’s (merinos), 283 cl per lb. Merino quotations are unchanged; the crossbred market is quiet. The values of tops are slightly lower.
