With reference to the statement that Bishop Crosslcy has resigned the Bishopric of Auckland, the Primate (Bishop Neville) states that he has received a telegram from Bishop Crossley’s agent in Auckland, informing him that letters are being sent regarding Bishop Cross Icy’s future plans. Tho Primate has been asked to take no steps and to make no definite announcement until he receives the letters. DEVONPORT STEAM PERRY COMPANY. ' AUCKLAND, J/y 1. In order to cope with future requirements, the directors of the Dovonport Steam Perry Company propose to increase the capital from £50,000 to £150,000 by tho issue of one hundred thousand new' ordinary shares of £1 each. Tho proposition will be submitted to the shareholders on Monday. CIVIL SERVICE ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, July 1. At a meeting of tho executive of tho New Zealand Civil Service Association it was decided to postpone the approaching conference till August 15. in view of the probability of the classification scheme not being available till near the end of July. The Public Service Commissioner is being communicated with regarding leave of absence for the delegates, and the order paper for tho conference is being left open till July 15. ALLEGED THEFT. WELLINGTON, July 2. James Henry Sergeant, who was charged with the theft of a watch belonging to Charles Jenkins, the jockey, and also with other thefts of jewellery, has been committed for trial. James Whitaker, charged with receiving some of the stolen goods, was also committed for trial.
