GIRLS ON FRUIT FARMS. , An interesting suggestion regarding 111 e employment of girls was made by Miss Badliam, at the Sydney Girls’ Grammar School prize distribution on Juno 19. One of thoir old girls, sho said, had, with her sister, made an excellent venture in the successful working of a fruit orchard at Moss Vale. “I know from personal experience that the fruit they send to market is of very .good quality, and the whole vyork is done on proper business-liko lines, and not 'as an amateur speculation.” After a suggestion that other girls might obtain definite training in horticulture, fruit-groting, fruit drying, vegetable gardening, or bee-keeping, according to the particular kind of country in which thoir respective homes might be, Miss lladham spoke of the physical and mental value of such effort. “Work of this kind,” she said, ‘‘would save many a girl from the sort of weariness which sometimes possesses her when she finds herself after the busy and varied life at school, leading a very quiet life in. the country, with nothing particular to occupy her latent energy.
