LABOUR PARLIAMENT.
DELEGATES GET TO WORK. ■ Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, TSp 1. At the afternoon sitting of the Unity Congress some discussion took place on the question of Mr. J, A. Hanan, M.P., sitting as a delegate from the Invercargill Bootmakers’ Union, on the' ground that ho was not a member of any labour body. Finally the acceptance of his credentials was carried by 206 votes to 126.
The congress also decided ;to , allow the secretary of the Wellington Tinsmith’s" Union to represent; the Auckland tinsmiths, -the latter's delegate being ill. Considerable debate took place on the question of the first business to-be considered. Finally it was decided that the first consideration bo given to the industrial platform as contained in the constitution of the Federation of Labour. ■ The congress then adjourned. TO-DAY’S BUSINESS. WELLINGTON, July 2. The Unity Congress was resumed -this morning. Notices of motion wore given, in favour of State control of the liquor, traffic, and protesting against the registration under the Arbitration Act of unions; whoso rules contain provisions enabling them to debar any persona obtaining employment solely because of their opinions. The congress decided that no new business should be taken before the consideration of the platforms and constitution had been finally dealt with.
