SUICIDE AT SEA,

At the inquest on Herbert Hensha,w, a passenger from Auckland on the last trip of the steamer Victoria, who was found in his cabin with his throat cut, a verdict of suicide was returned. The evidence- showed that he was suffering from the effects of liquor and sea-sick-ness.

COMMONWEALTH REVENUE. MELBOURNE, July 1. The Commonwealth revenue for the year was £21,877,126, compared with £20,422,300 last year. Customs and excise yielded £15,536,606, an increase of £1,826,407. SIURDERER EXECUTED.

PERTH, July 1. Spargo has been executed for the murdor of Jones in May last.

[A cablegram from Perth, dated May 30, said; —Charles Spargo has been sentenced to death for the murder of Gilbert Jones at Broome. Jones was found shot in a swamp, and Ids property was discovered in the possession of Spargo, who also drew £2O in Jones’ name from the Savings Bank.] A PAINTERS’ STRIKE. ADELAIDE, July 1.
