IS IT A DELUSION?

MOTHER AND LONG-LOST DAUGHTER. A novel “cinematograph drama” has just been played in Paris. Some weeks, ago n lady, Mrae. Bergerollose, who lives at Motilins, went to see the local picture show, and while the performance was in progress she suddenly leapt up and, with hands outstretched to the “leading lady” of the piece, cried, “Heavens, it is she—my daughter ! It’s' Albdrtine.” .Then she ran to find the manager. ’“Monsieur,” she cried to him, “I have just found my lost daughter; I'have not seen her for-sixteen years, and thought her dead. There she is, on the screen.” “If that is really so,” said the symS “retie manager, “then you can easily her in Paris. She is very well known there ns Mdlle. Mistinguette.”, The lady immediately left for Paris and found Mdlle. Mistinguette in her flat in the Boulevard des Capuciues. “At last I have found you,” she cried, ; “Don’t yon recognise me? lam your mother.” But the famous actress did not recognise her.

“I am sorry,” she said. “But I have my mother already. She lives with mo here.” And she refused to have anything to do with Mme. Bergerolles. One night the manager of the Theatre des Varieties said to Mdlle. Mistinguotte, “Don’t let her die of starvation. If sh 6 isn’t your mother, she is a very poor woman.'’ “Oh, I’ll help her,” said the actress who has a warm heart. But the 1- V was insistent. She wanted a mr.itlily payment for her support, and became so insistent that the judicial authorities have' intervened. They are trying to decide whether Mdlle. Mistinguette is really the long-lost Albertino. The actress says the whole thing is a delusion, and that she is getting rather tired of it.
