HUNTING.
NORTH TARANAKI HOUNDS. The North Taraiiaki Hounds met at Mr. E. Topless’ homestead, Waihi, on Thursday last. This is generally looked upon as one of the finest meets of the local Hunt, and, the weather beng all that could be desired; there was a large muster, and anticipations of a successful gathering were fully realised. The country had been well sparred for the occasion, and the pack, working splendidly, were kept going practically the whole afternoon. The company were entertained at lunch by Mr. and Mrs. Topless, and also to afternoon tea. Before the members dispersed, Mr. A. H. Halcombe (Master) tendered the thanks of the Hunt to Mr. and Mrs. Topless for their hospitality and for so kindly allowing the use of their property. He also took the opportunity of thanking the adjoining property-owners, including the Natives, for the use of their farms.
