(From Our Own Correspondent.) Juno 27.—0 n Thursday night tho bachelors held their annual ball. The committee are to he congratulated on the success of their undertaking., and it was voted by one and all as one of the best functions over held in the district. Everything was well managed aud wont with a good swing. Sixty couples graced tho floor, and still there was room for more. Tho floor was really splendid, in fact some couples found it rather too good. Mrs. George, of New Plymouth, supplied tho music, and, to say tho least, it was excellent. Tho hall was beautifully decorated with nikau palms, tern trees and. flags. Mrs. Bint, who had charge of the suppertables, had them very tastefully decorated and arranged; no small credit is duo to her for tho way in which sho worked to mako things pleasant. Messrs. J. Drummond and P. Chapman carried out their duties as M.C.’s in first-class style, every moment of their time being taken up. Tho night was an ideal night for dancers), and nondancers were kept warm hy largo fires. Dancing was kept up with groat spirit, till tho wee sma’ hours of morning.
