POLITICAL NOTES.

LENGTH OF THE SESSION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, June 26. Asked this evening how long ho thought tho session would he, the Prime Minister said that tho position was quite simple. “V\e have four months’ work in hand,” ho remarked, “and if there is no obstruction and no unnecessary delay, we can get through it in four ’months; if there is obstruction or delay, very well, tho session will bo so much longer; that is the whole thing.” To a suggestion that ho would no doubt be prepared to go on until Christmas if necessary, Mr. Massey smilingly assented. IMMIGRATION MATTERS. It is'very unlikely that an immigration Bill will bo brought down this year, as was recently announced by the "Minister of Internal Affairs. Some extended activities in tho field of immigration are in train, but the Prime Minister stated this evening, in reply to a question, that he did not think legislation on tho subject would bo necessary this session. FORESTRY COMMISSION! The report of tho Forestry Commission is expected to issue shortly from the hands of the Government Printer. It will be "kid on tho tablo of the House of Representatives. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL REFORM. The Prime Minister stated this evening, that the Legislative Council Reform Bill will probably be introduced in the House this year, instead of in the Council, as was done last year, but the matter has not yet been definitely decided. THE SPEAKER APPROVED. WELLINGTON. Juno 27. The newly elected Speaker, accompanied by the mover and seconder of the motion to elect him, and other members of .tho House, proceeded to Government House this morning.
