Onr Wellington correspondent reports that Mr. Samuel George Raymond and Mr. Frederick Wilding, both of Christchurch, have been appointed K.O.’s. Mr. Hindmarsh, an inspector for the Bank of New Zealand, is to take the place of Mr. AV. B. Gibbs as manager of the bank at Tfmaru. It is -with regret we record the death of Mrs. West, wife of Mr. Joseph West, 1 of New Plymouth, which occurred last night after a long illness. A Press Association, message from Washington states that Mr. Justice Gerard has been selected as Ambassador to Germany. Mr. C. AVoods, of the Opunako Post and Telegraph Office, has been transferred to the Thames Office; Mr. J. B. Dilkes, of the AVellington office, will fill the vacancy. Mr. J. O. Jones, manager of tho Union Bank at Rangiora, has been transferred to Auckland, for which town he will leave next week. His successor at Rangiora is Mr. A. Glasgow. At the Hawera Gymkhana on Thursday the Prime Minister telegraphed thanking the committee for an invitation to the function, but regretting his inability to attend owing to the opening of Parliament. A Press Association telegram from Christchurch announces the death of Mr Henry Sawtell, who was a member of the Provincial Council in tho early days, ancL-Mayor of Christchurch in 1872. He was 79 years of age. Mr. Edmund Goodbehere, ex-Mayqr of Feilding, associated with public bodies in the district for 24 years, being 12 years Mayor and six years councillor, was on Thursday night made a presentation by the ratepayers of a silver salver and two silver entree dishes, accompanied by an engrossed letter on parchment.
