THE GOVERNMENT GUARANTEE.(By Telegraph. Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Jilno 27. , Interviewed regarding the happenings at to-day’s meeting of shareholders of tho Bank of New Zealand, the Hon. J amcs Allen (Minister for Finance) said he had nothing whatever to say on the subject. He understood the position quite well, but had no comment to offer upon it. The position is that it will have to be decided this year whether the Government guarantee covering bank stock to the amount of £1,000,000 shall ho renewed or discontinued, for the present guarantee expires in July, 1914. Asked what the attitude of the Government would he concerning the matter, Mr. Allen said that it would depend entirely upon what the board of directors decided.
