FITZROY FIRE BRIGADE.

, ANNUAL-REPORT. The following is the ninth annual report of the Fitzroy Volunteer Fire Brigade.:— Captain F. 0. Griffiths, in presenting his report, said:—lt gives me much pleasure to report the entire absence of fires during the period, which -speaks well for the district, and I trust the comihg year will be completed as satisfactorily as the past withoutloss to property owners. There have been several changes in membership owing to sickness and members leaving the district, hut I am pleased to be able to state the full strength is maintained. I have to thank the officers and members for their strict obedience and attention to duty, thereby keeping the brigade up to the present high standard already attained, which I hope will continue; also allow me to especially thank the residents of the district and tho ladies’ committee for their unremitting support in keeping the finances of the brigade so healthy. During the year the brigade competed in the Taranaki District Fire Brigades’ Association competitions held at New Plymouth, and acquitted themselves in a manner reflecting great credit to all concerned by tying with Hawera and Stratford brigades for first honours in the champion shield. Inspector Hugo has inspected the brigade twice during the year, and on both, occasions full musters were accounted for and a cfansiderable , amount of useful work done; after the practical work the inspector addressed tile officers and members of the brigade and imparted some exceedingly useful information. I have also to express my gratitude to the Fire Board and superintendent for the prompt manner in which they have supplied us with the necessary gear, new uniforms, etc. In conclusion 1 may say that several members received their long-service medals, bars, etc., during tho year.
