THE TERRITORIALS.

•ENCAMPMENT AND STAFF CHANGES. (Flatting with a Hawera Star reporter Captain Stevens, the officer in charge of No. 8 group (Taranaki), who •lias just returned from Oriugi camp, stated that the 11th Regiment (Taranaki Ilifles) had had the record attendance of 98.4'’per cent, and that only 18 men from this regiment had been absent without leave or were unaccounted for. Captain Stevens added that, as compared with camps of regulars which he had attended in various pails of the world, tho territorial camp at Oringi was extremely orderly considering tho numbers of only partially trained and disciplined youths who attended. Everyone admitted the advance made in drill and discipline since last year, and the spirit of the regiment had developed in a remarkable manner. Certainly Taranaki could now feel it could more than hold its own in any company—as was evidenced by ,their fine record in work and play, and officers and men alike now seem so strongly imbued with pride for their corps that disciS" ■ most certainly will walk hand in with this regimental enthusiasm. Speaking of impending changes, Captain Stevens said that it had been decided to make Hawera in every sense the headquarters of Taranaki from a military point of view, and the Adjutant of the 11th Regiment, his Regimental Sergeant-Major, and Quar-termaster-Sergeant would all be moved from Stratford to Hawera'. By this means much unnecessary correspondence between . defence officers and N.C.O’s. should be avoided and an economy effected in office rent. Tho now defence staff at Hawera, when this change was effected, would be:; — Captain Stevens, officer in charge of area group 8 (Taranaki) and adjutant for Senior Cadets in group No. 8; Lieut. M‘Donnell,- Adjutant 11th Regiment Taranaki Rifles; Regimental Sergeant-major'M'Glade; Q.M.S. Collins, 11th Regiment Taranaki Rifles; Lieut. Dovey, Adjutant 2nd Queen Alexandra Mounted Rifles; Regimental Sergeant-major Dunham; Macrae, 2nd Alexandra Mounted Ilifles; Q.M.S. Dallinger, Senior Cadets in Taranaki; Area Sergeant-major Maloney, in charge 31 area. These additions to the staff will necessitate some alterations- in the defence offices to provide more accommodation, and tho work having been authorised, will be put in hand at once.
