THE BANNER COMPETITION. Tho banner match between Pihama and Hawcra was played on Saturday at Manaia, when the Pihama Club won by 11 points. This leaves Patca and Pihama in the southern Section, and they will probably moot at Hawcra on Wednesday to play off. . Patea’s rinks will bo as follows; —Horner, Campbell, Williams, Hulbert (s.); Wood, Christenson, M'Kenna, Bibortson (s.); Holtham, O’Shea, Gilshnan, Elliott (s.). Tho winners will play New Plymouth in the final on a neutral green—either at Hawora or Stratford. The Hawera Star furnishes tho following report of the match between Hawera and Patea:—On Saturday Pibama and Hawera met at Manaia to play off a tie in tho Banner competition, and tho former won. Conditions were not altogether pleasant, as during tho greater part of tho game there ■was a drizzling rain. The game was full of incident. Pihama went off with a. good lead, and soon were 14 points up, and at the tenth head were still 8 to the good. At the fifteenth head Hawora had wiped this out, and were eight up. Then tho teams got level, but in tho last throe heads Pihama obtained “pots,” and the game resulted eleven points in their favour. The scores wore: — P. H.
