SWIMMING.
THE CARNIVAL TO-NIGHT. The public hardly need to be reminded of the final sports meeting to be held in the municipal baths this evening. Arrangements arc well forward and as the weather promises to be fine there should be a good attendance of the public. Plenty of seating accommodation will be provided, and music by the Garrison Band will add teethe enjoyment of the affair. A glance at the programme in our advertising columns will show the public the excellence of the bill of fare to be provided.
On Okoke correspondent reports that the social and dance which was held on the 28th of last month at Okoke was ■well patronised. Splendid music was played by Mrs. Isaacs, of Waitara, and two songs were sung by Mr. W. Hunt, of Hawera. There were no less than five inspectors in court to-day, each of whom had his little list of victims to bring before the magistrate. Their doyen, Mr. Ben Tippjns, headed the list with about half-a-dozen culprits.
