PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

. .The monthly meeting was held - at Rahotu on Thursday, July 11. The members present were Messrs. Young (chairman), Harvey, Ducker, Leahy and (later) Willcox. The forman reported that the crusher had worked on upper and lower Kahui roads, that drains had been cleared on lower Kabul Road; that pipe culverts had been put in on upper Kahui Road in place bt wood culverts broken down ; that a considerable amount of repair work was done on Warea Road; that a lot of damage and nuisance was being caused on the .Warea Road through slush from a cow yard running on to it; that repairs are in progress on the Namu and Ihaia roads. 1

Mr. Magon asked for payment of royalty on shingle taken for repairing road.—The clerk to write him.

Messrs. Ashby and Cross waited on the board to ask for repairs, to lower end of Opua Road. The foreman was instructed to, spend from £ls to £2O on that part.. Mr. Coomhes asked permission to erect a protecting fence ori Kina Road nutside his boundary.—Granted. ' Mr. Brophy asked the board to do something to the Bayly Hoad.—The foreman was directed to spend £lO in repairing the culvert and making a cutting to fill a hollow. Mr. Hoskin wrote that his fence had been broken and the board’s horse put in his paddock on Namu Road.—The clerk to inform Mr. Hoskin that he is mistake;!, as the board’s horse is not up there. Mr, Sinclair asked permission to lay a pipe under Opua Hoad.—Granted. The foreman reported that the men would not work at 8s per day, and would all leave after this meeting.—-The board decided to pay -9s per day. The foreman was directed to put off all casual hands as soon as possible. The clerk was instructed to get an opinion from the board’s solicitor as to whether the board could legally distribute the Ngariki No. 1 rate over the No. 2 area.

T. Julian offered a team for two days’ repair work if the board finds a spreader.—Accepted.

Accounts amounting to £772 were passed.
