ROYAL PICTURES AND' ORCHESTRA. The final presentation of tho current series of pictures at the Theatre Royal drew’ a good house lust night. A complete change of programme will be introduced this evening, which will include a stirriug story ox human interest entitled “The Oath of, His Office.” Another dramatic story, ‘ ‘Rose /of St. Augustine,” is a production by tho Seiig Company. The Essanay Company are said to have achieved a success iu “The Little Black Box,” a detective drama which is described as original in every respect. What are also described as two very tine acrobatic and sporting pictures are “Oazaka’s Ju-jitsu Methods of Defence and Attack” and “A Trio of Acrobats.” Among other items is an industrial subject showing "“The Nitrate of Soda Industry in Chili,” “The Australian Gazette” (topical collection), “Her Undo John” (Lubin comedy), “Getting Rid of Uncle” (Centaur), and “Mrs. Jones Entertains” (A. 8.), conrics. ; EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. “Chains of an Oath” is tho title of a superb Vitagraph drama, 2000 ft. iu length, showing at tho Empire ou today’s change of programme.' This photo-play takes the form of a powerful Russian drama, thrilling with absorbing incidents, and has all the photographic beauty usually associated with the Vitagraph productions. Other dramatic features are “The Twelfth Juror” (T'annhausor), “Tho Little Organist” (Edison), and “Two Old Pals” (Seiig). ' The last-named is a remark-, able Seiig animal picture, iu. whichToddles, tho Seiig elephant, plays the principal part; the full Seiig menagerie is included in tho picture. Tho popular 'topical films are again in strong force with “The Gaumout Graphic” and “Patho London Gazette,” i’lustrating the world’s notable happenings. The Gaumont Company are represented by a side-splitting farcical comedy, “How John Got Out of Difficulties, or Early Morning Reflections,” and other humorous films aro “Winter Sports” and “Under Royal Protection.” The orchestra will be heard in a new musical programme, including “The Arcadians” (“I’ve got a Motter”).
