SUICIDE AT STRATFORD. Per Press Association. STRATFORD. May 6. Frederick Smith Pollock, a well-known coachbuildor, was found dead, hangiiig in an outhouse behind his office, yesterday afternoon. A MAN SUFFOCATED. DUNEDIN, May 5. Michael O’Sullivan, aged 75 years, was found dead this morning in a hut in which he resided, alongside Mill and Co.’s, coal yard, Rattray Street, .Apparently he had thrown down a match, which set lire to a sack on the floor. A carter in the employ of the firm noticed smoke issuing from the- hut, and he broke open the door and extinguished the flames. He returned to the hut when the smoke cleared away, and found O’Sullivan in a corner dead. A MINER INJURED. DUNEDIN, May 5. Simon Weatherall, a miner employed in Craig’s coal mine at Gcal Creek, mot with a bad accident on Friday. He was brought to the Dunedin hospital. His spine is injured and his condition is serious. DEATH IN A TRAM CAR. WELLINGTON, May 5. Robert MacDonald, employed as watchman at the Government Printing Office, died in a tram car when returning to his home. He was about 50 years of ago. LABOURER’S SUDDEN DEATH GISBORNE, May 6, Thomas Farrell, aged 40, a labourer at Muriwai, died suddenly yesterday, while carrying a bucket of water. A SETTLER’S DEATH. GISBORNE, May 6. James Graham, a settler at Puha, who was found unconscious on Cliff Road on Saturday evening, died yesterday of cerebral hemorrhage. . INQUEST AT TIMARU. Mr. A. Crooko, coroner, hold an inquest on Saturday into the causes which ded to .the death "of Pulley Norman John Shogren, the two-year-old son of the . manager of the Timaru Creamery, finding a verdict that the child had been accidentally drowned in the water-race at the creamery. ACCIDENT AT BELL BLOCK. An accident which might have been attended with serious consequences happened on Saturday evening on the main road between New Plymouth and Waitara. Mr. William H. Pillar, who resides in Devon. Street East, was cycling home from Inglewood. About five o’clock, just before reaching Bell Block, Mr. Pillar was run into by a trap and seriously hurt. He must have been rendered unconscious, for he remembers little of what’happened afterwards. A settler travelling to Waitara happened to see the unfortunate mail, ana conveyed him to that town. Hence he was brought in by train to New Plymouth, and attended by Dr. Suttie. Besides getting a very severe shake, Mr. Pillars injuries include a cut face, a cut and bruised leg, and injuries to his chest, which are as yet indefinite. He is progressing very favourably, and this afternoon his condition is much improved.
