A FLAX MILL ACCIDENT. TAURANGA, April 22. A native lad named Solomon October, employed in a flaxmill near Tepnke, was caught in the scutching machinery on Friday. He had his arm torn off, necessitating amputation of the limb at the shoulder. A BUILDER’S DEATH. CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. The body of a Christchurch builder who has been missing for a week was found this morning near Amberley, in a water hole, about three-quarters of a mile away From the wharc where he was living while superintending a job, and where lie was last seen. The body was found floating on the surface of the water. A RAILWAY ACCIDENT. ASHBURTON, April 21. Later accounts show that the Mount Somers train accident was caused through the breaking of an axle on one of the trucks while the train was running at ordinary speed. This caused the truck to "spread” and throw the nine following waggons off the rails, and tore up the line for 100 yards. The engine-driver noticed the trouble and immediately applied the brake and stopped the train, the engine and carriages remaining on the lino. About sixty passengers were on the train, but the jolting was very light, and they djd not notice the accident until the train stopped. Drags brought them to Ashburton about I o’clock, or three and a, half hours late. A relief gang has been dispatched to the scene, and repairs are now being effected. A CORPSE FOUND. AUCKLAND. April 22. The headless body of an infant, about twelve months old. was found on the beach nt Rangitoto. It had been in the water a considerable time.
