At Westfield on AVednesday, April 17, • the fat cattle yarded numbered 347. Competition was steady. Choice ox ' brought to £1 6s, prime £1 3s to £1 ss, cow and heifer 16s to £l, steers £7 to £l3, cows and heifers £3 10s x> £8 6s. Calves: Runners £3 7s to £4 Is, heavy plain £2 12s to £3 3s, choice suckers £1 15s _to £2 10s, small and light 3s to £1 os; 58 were sold. The sheep pens were wed filled, but the demand was irregular. Wethers and choice young owes were better worth. Extra prime heavy wethers brought £1 to £1 2s 3d, heavy prime 17s 6d to 19s 6d, medium light 14s to 17s, best ewes 15s to 16s 6d, heavy 12s to 14s, others 9s to 11s 6d; 1821 were sold. Prices were firmer for lambs. Best heavy brought 14s to 16s 6d, good 12s 6d to 13s 9d, others 8s to 11s 6d; 330 were sold. There was a large entry of pigs, and demand was good. WEBSTER BROS. 1 REPORT. Poultry.—At the mart on Saturday •jfcpur pens were taxed to their utmost ■with birds of all classes. Prices showed a decided advance on the previous week’s list, one pen of AVhite Leghorn pullets realising os 6d each. Forward pullets and young hens still were keenly sought after. AVc quote:. Thero were several pens of black Orpington cockerels, all of which realised over 3s each. Prices are as follows: Hens Is 6d to 2s 4d, pullets 3s 6d to 3s 9d, cockerels Is lOd to 2s 4d, block Orpington cockerels 3s 3d to 3s 9d, ducks Is od to 2s 9d.
